EnergyCAP updates for the weekend of March 7–8, 2020

Tuesday, February 25, 2020

Over the weekend of March 7–8, 2020, EnergyCAP, Inc. (ECI) will be updating its software for all ECI-hosted databases. These updates include a collection of new sharing features for bill lists, dashboards, and reports. No downtime is expected during the update. Please review the changes listed below in preparation for this update.

New Sharing Features

ECI is enhancing the options available in EnergyCAP Version 7 for sharing bill lists, dashboards, and reports. With the upcoming release of Version 7.7, several new sharing features will be available in your EnergyCAP database:

  • User Groups [New Feature]: We’ve added the ability to group similar users together to better manage how data is shared within your organization. User groups can be created and managed via setup spreadsheets. Users may be added to one or more user groups.

  • Decide who to share with [Enhanced Feature]: In the past, sharing a bill list, dashboard, or report meant sharing it to all users within your EnergyCAP database. You now have the ability to choose whether you want to share with everyone or only to one or more user groups.

  • Allow specific users to see but not modify shared items [New Feature]. We’ve added separate user permissions to see versus edit shared items. This means that you can share a bill list, dashboard, or report with users and decide whether or not they should be allowed to modify the item you’ve shared. This is helpful when you want a user to benefit from something you’ve put together, but you want them to make their own copy if they want to make changes.

  • Decide which shared items appear for you [New Feature]. You can now show/hide shared items, making EnergyCAP even more convenient to use. Hide shared bill lists, dashboards, and reports that aren’t important to your personal workflow, and know that you can still get back to them at any time.

These enhancements will be released to your ECI-hosted database over the weekend of March 7–8, 2020. Look for additional information and videos in the EnergyCAP User Guide as these features become available.

NOTE: With this release, public reports will no longer be visible in EnergyCAP Enterprise Version 3 and Version 6 (installed client). Existing public reports will be converted to shared reports in Version 7. All of the additional sharing features and options described above will be available for these reports in Version 7.
